Vhi Healthcare Price and Benefit Changes 31.12.2022 & 01.01.2023

Vhi Healthcare have announced the following changes as 31st December 2022: 

Updated rule changes. Full details can be seen at the bottom of the page below.

Benefit changes effective 31st December 2022:

1) PMI 43 16  PMI 45 10 PMI 46 10 PMI 47 10 

  • Clarification that a limit of ‘once per lifetime’ applies to the ‘Initial Consultation’ & ‘Fertility Tests’ benefits
  • We are updating the Table of benefits to include a limit for Dexa scans of ‘one scan per renewal year’ in an approved Dexa scan centre

*Dexa scan benefit ranges from 50%, 75% or full cover.

2) PMI 45 10 

In addition to the changes listed above PMI 45 10 received the following change:

  • Inclusion of IUS Hormonal Coil – 50% up to €300 per lifetime

3) PMI 46 10 

In addition to the changes listed above PMI 46 10 received the following changes:

  • Inclusion of IUS Hormonal Coil – 50% up to €300 per lifetime
  • Hearing test benefit increased from €25 in each two year period, to €40 in each two year period

4) PMI 47 10 

In addition to the changes listed above PMI 45 10 received the following change:

  • Inclusion of IUS Hormonal Coil – 75% up to €400 per lifetime

5) Dexa scan benefit changes

We are updating the Table of benefits to include a limit for Dexa scans of ‘one scan per renewal year’ in an approved Dexa scan centre on the following plans:

6) Removal of Section Maximum

We are updating the Table of benefits to remove the section maximum for the following benefits:

  • Consultant Consultations &
  • Radiology & Pathology professional benefit and technical fees.

7) There has been a change in the hospital network for the following plans:

  • FirstCare Extra 150 Day to Day
  • FirstCare 250 Day to Day
  • FirstCare 500 Day to Day
  • Public Plus Care
  • Public Plus Care Day to Day

Croom Hospital and Lourdes Orthopaedic Hospital are now covered under these plans.

1) Vhi are updating the Table of benefits to include a limit for Dexa scans of ‘one scan per renewal year’ in an approved Dexa scan centre on the following plans:

  • PMI 05 11
  • PMI 17 10
  • PMI 21 11
  • PMI 24 10
  • PMI 39 14
  • PMI 50 10
  • PMI 53 10
  • PMI 59 10

*Dexa scan benefit ranges from 50%, 75% or full cover.

2) PMI 17 10 

  • Inclusion of Gender Affirmation Supports – 75% up to €3,000 per lifetime

3) PMI 21 11 

  • Day to Day excess will be reduced from €100 to €1

4) PMI 24 10 

  • Inclusion of Prescription cost – up to €25 per year

5) PMI 50 10 

  • Inclusion of Gender Affirmation Supports – 50% up to €3,000 per lifetime

6) PMI 53 10 

  • Inclusion of Fitness Screening benefit – Full cover for 1 visit per 3 year period
  • Inclusion of Strength & Conditioning Coach benefit -€40 per visit , 3 visits per year
  • Inclusion of Medical Tattooing (Eyebrow & Areola) for cancer patients - €60 per year
  • Inclusion of Emergency Dental treatment - €500 per accident
  • Inclusion of Vaccination - Chicken Pox- €50 per inoculation (2 per lifetime)
  • Inclusion of Vaccination - Meningitis -€50 per inoculation (2 per lifetime)
  • Inclusion of IUS Hormonal Coil benefit - 50% up to €300 per lifetime
  • Inclusion of Vasectomy benefit– 50% cover up to €250 per lifetime
  • Dental practitioner benefit will be increased from €25 per visit, 7 visits per year to €40 per visit, 7 visits per year

All changes apply to new and renewing customers as of 31st of December 2022 and 1st January 2023.
