The Health Insurance Authority (HIA) is the independent regulator of private health insurance in Ireland. We provide impartial information to help you understand health insurance, compare plans, and know your rights.

Before you contact us

We can help with comparing plans, understanding benefits and waiting periods, switching insurers, consumer rights and regulations.

We can’t help with claims, refunds, policy administration, changing your cover, or provider billing, you’ll need to contact your insurer for those.
